CBG

First discovered by researchers in the 1960’s, CBG is the origin from which the most popular cannabinoids are synthesized. Most are familiar with the cannabinoids known as THC, CBC, and CBD. However, CBGa is the acidic precursor to these cannabinoid lines. Often referred to as "The Mother” of these lines, CBG has enormous therapeutic promise, especially in the medical community. The cannabis plant naturally produces CBGa, as well as the other cannabinoids, in much smaller doses. Specific enzymes in the plant break down CBGa and direct it toward the production of THCa and CBDa. Thus, more THCa means less CBDa and CBGa and vice versa by the nature of how these compounds are synthesized. When these compounds go through decarboxylation (exposure to light or heat) the non-acidic form of THC and CBD are made. The non-acidic form is what our ECS is most familiar. The human body’s built-in endocannabinoid system (ECS) works to keep the body in homeostasis while regulating key aspects of our biology. The plant's cannabinoids naturally react with this system and that is why its uses are being further developed in the medical world. The list of medical benefits  for CBG is long, and some say it provides more  medical uses than its popular counterpart CBD.  CBG has powerful effects as an anti-inflammatory and vasodilator.  Research has shown that it may be an effective treatment for glaucoma by reducing intraocular pressure and reduce inflammation. CBG also works as a neuroprotective and anti-proliferation.  Recently, it has shown great promise as a cancer fighter by inhibiting the growth of colorectal cancer cells and tumors.   Scientists are exited about these findings  and this research is promoting a promising medical future.
